Our dentists, Dr. Robert L. Houghtaling Jr. and Dr. Myra I. Covarrubias, proudly serve the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo communities. Offering a wide range of services from preventative oral care and general dentistry to cosmetic dentistry and denture services, our experienced dentists provide our patients with world-class dental treatments and services in a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.

Dr. Robert Houghtaling Jr. was born and raised in Battle Creek. His father, Robert Houghtaling Sr. worked for many years in Battle Creek law enforcement and his mother worked for 41 years at Ralston Purina. He attended Battle Creek Academy and Kellogg Community College, He finished his bachelors degree at Wayne State University, his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Michigan. Upon returning to Battle Creek, he began teaching at Kellogg Community College in the dental hygiene clinic, teaching head and neck anatomy and working with the students in the clinic. He taught for 12 great years and feel very fortunate to have had that experience.

He started his dental practice in 1988 in Bedford Township, taking over the practices of Burt Forrester and Dr. Edward Attarian. In 1999, he had his dental office built at 3003 West Dickman Road where it remains today. Dr. Houghtaling enjoys practicing dentistry very much. He is blessed with an excellent staff and tries to provide the best care for every one of his patients. Dr. Houghtaling treats patients of all ages and tries to devote as much time and attention to one as needed. He and his wife Tina have six children.

Dr. Myra Covarrubias grew up most of her life in Battle Creek. She graduated from Andrews University with her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, She moved to California where she received her Master's in Public Health, then her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loma Linda University. She moved back to Battle Creek in 2004 and joined Dr. Houghtaling's office. She has also spent some time working as the supervising dentist at Kellogg Community College. She enjoys practicing dentistry and getting to know her patients. She and her husband have two children.
